Now that we’ve completed the home study process we’re able to move onto step 2, working with NEDC to complete the necessary tasks for the embryo adoption. We received our packet of information in the mail and have another checklist of items that we need to complete and return. One of the tasks involves writing a letter about ourselves that embryo donors would read and then if they are interested in us they would contact NEDC and ask for more information about us. We believe during this process we’ll also be able to look at available donors and if we find a couple we’re interested in we could contact NEDC and in turn they would contact the couple. NEDC will also be working to “match” us with available donors during the entire process.
The other tasks include going to the clinic and having some blood work done, having all of our medical records sent from our fertility specialists to NEDC and we need to sign a few forms some of which need to be notarized. Within the paperwork that we received it said that it typically takes 8 to 10 months from the time a couple is accepted till the date of the embryo transfer. We’re hopeful that it won’t take us that long to complete the process since our home study is already done. We’re also hopeful that it won’t take that long as NEDC gives preference to couples that do not have any biological children of their own. Just as we did with the home study process we’ll update the blog as we go along and as we complete the necessary tasks.
Again, thank you in advance for all your love and support as we continue on this journey!
