On February 24 little Miss Madelyn turned 1 month old - wow! She is a fantastic baby and we are absolutely head over heels in love with her. Here's how she did during her first month...
Weight: 8lbs 12.5oz (birth - 6lbs 10oz)
Length: 21in (birth - 19in)
Diaper Size: Newborn - we have a little peanut!
Clothes Size: Newborn and she's just starting to fill them out. For the first two weeks she looked like she was swimming in everything!
Eye Color: Blue and we are pretty sure they are going to stay that way.
Hair Color: Strawberry Blonde and she has a lot of it!
Sleep: We are blessed with a happy baby that enjoys sleeping. For the first month we had to wake Madelyn up every 2-3 hours to feed. We have no idea how long she would have slept had we just let her sleep through feedings but that was not an option because of how much weight she lost after she was born when we were in the hospital.
Food: We attempted to breastfeed but had a lot of problems with her latching. I was pumping every 2-3 hours and then we were finger feeding her whatever I pumped and supplementing with formula from day 2. When she was about 3 1/2 weeks old we switched to just formula as I was only able to produce about 1/2 an ounce of milk every 2-3 hours and that continued to go down with each pumping session.
Activity: Madelyn sleeps a lot about 18 hours a day and when she's not sleeping she's eating. However, we are attempting to get as much tummy time in as possible - even if she doesn't like it :)
