Finger Prints

We had an appointment at the Maple Grove police station today to get our finger prints taken for part of our home study.  We were both a little nervous when we arrived because we were wondering what we were going to stay to our friends that we were meeting later for dinner when we showed up with black finger tips.  But we didn't have to worry for long because finger prints are now done electronically, who knew!  It was pretty cool to see the whole process happening and the computer would tell the police officer whether or not the print was "good."  Luckily, we didn't have too many rejects :-)

This weekend we're hoping to get some of the additional paperwork completed for the home study as many of the items need to be returned prior to our individual meetings with Allie our social worker.  There are a few items that will take longer to get back, such as the background checks, affidavit of health insurance coverage, etc.  Once we have our individual meetings with Allie she'll then come to our house to evaluate the floor plan and make sure we have plenty of space for a child.  After this meeting she'll then write our home study report which will need to be reviewed by her supervisor and then we'll have a chance to review it and make changes.  After we've all agreed on a report it will then be submitted to NEDC and then we'll be able to start the embryo adoption process.  All in all we're anticipating that this process will take six to eight weeks.  As always we'll post updates as we move through the process.
