We got some exciting news last Thursday, March 10th our pre-formal application paperwork was finally approved! YAHOO!!! We have now completed the first step in the home study process and have moved onto step two which entails filling out a formal application. This was an online application where we had to list personal references and describe our house as well as our neighborhood. We submitted the application on Friday, March 11th and have been told that it takes on average one week for the application to move through the approval process.
Once the formal application has been approved we'll have to pay a coordination fee and then we'll be assigned a social worker. During our first meeting with our social worker we will get another packet of information which will include more forms for us to fill out and we believe it is at this point in which we'll have to go to the local police station and have our finger prints taken and then submitted to the FBI for a background check. Our personal references will be contacted after we've had our first meeting with our social worker via a letter sent to their home.
We are very excited to have the first step behind us and are hopeful that we'll get more good news this week by way of our formal application being approved! We also wanted to give a special thank you to those that have agreed to be personal references for us. We truly value our relationship with you, are grateful to have you in our lives and can't begin to express our gratitude.
