It’s been about a week and a half since we last updated the blog and we have had some great news. To start, Sara had another check up at the University with her cancer specialist and all her tests came back great. Her CA125 level was the lowest she’s ever had! She will go back for another check up in three months.
We also had our home visit last Wednesday. In Ryan’s words, “it’s a good thing we didn’t spend too much time cleaning or picking things up” as Allie, our social worker, was only at the house for about ten minutes. She came in we gave her a tour of the house and then she had a release form for both of us to sign. This release allows her to send our home study report to NEDC upon its completion.
Finally, Allie informed us that our home study report was 98% complete when we met with her on Wednesday. All she needed to do was add information about our house and then she would be sending it to her supervisor for her. She figured her supervisor wouldn’t get the report back to her till early next week. After Allie gets it back she’ll then make any edits and/or changes that her supervisor suggest and then she’ll send it to us for our review. Once we have had a chance to review the report and we all agree on what’s included it will then be sent to NEDC and we will be able to begin the adoption process! We’re hopeful that we will be able to begin this process by the 2nd or 3rd week in May. We’ll update the blog again once we have started the next steps.
