7 months!

Weight: at her last dr. appt. on Aug. 7 she was 16lbs 6.4oz so we’re guessing she’s probably pretty close to 17lbs now

Length: they didn’t take a length at her last appt. and we have not tried to measure her but we’re sure she’s probably over 27 inches long by now. 

Diaper Size: 2 but I’m pretty sure once we are done with the 2s we have we’ll move up to 3s. 

Clothes Size: She still fits into her 6 month clothes and I’m guessing it might be another couple of months before we move up to 9 month clothes.  

Eye Color: Magnificent BLUE!

Hair Color: A lot of people think her hair is getting darker.  I think it’s hard for us to tell because we see her all the time so it’s interesting when other people point it out or comment on how much hair sh has. 

Sleep: Madelyn has been sleeping better at night aside from the occasional night where she might wake up once or when she wakes up earlier than normal.  It seems like this happens on Sunday and Monday nights, probably because she sleeps so much more during the weekend than the week.  I guess we’re boring so she can take longer naps.  Although we need to work on taking longer naps in her crib, right now she will sleep for 20-30 minutes or so and then be up.  This seems to be the case at school too; she’ll take a couple short naps throughout the day. 

Food: She’s still drinking about 26ozs of formula a day, although there have been a few days were she’s only had about 20.  We’ve also been allowing her to drink some water after dinner at night out of a regular cup and she thinks it’s the coolest thing.  She waves her hands back and forth and opens her mouth because she wants more. 

She absolutely loves oatmeal and has been doing really good now that we’ve started mixing foods.  She’s had turkey and rice, mixed veggies, apples and cherries and chicken and vegetables.  Thus far the only thing she hasn’t really liked is green beans.  She eats them but we’re pretty sure they are not her favorite. 

Activity: Miss M LOVES to sit up and just this past weekend she showed us how she can sit up on her own when she leans back on the boppy.  She has not done it when she’s been laying flat on her back yet but we’re guessing it won’t be long before she does.  She continues to amaze us with how quickly she learns to do new things.  We’re sure it’s because she is so attentive, she watches everything you do and tries to mimic you and she’s definitely catching onto a lot of things!  She also enjoys jumping and can get some pretty good air when she gets going in the jumper, it’s pretty cute.  Ryan has an adorable video of her jumping at school the other day, we will have to try and upload it to the blog so everyone can see it. 

Health: The only issue Madelyn’s had to deal with has a direct correlation to her wearing her helmet.  She’s wearing a helmet because her head is wider from ear to ear versus round and the helmet is supposed to help round out her head.  First they thought she had chicken pox, then they treated her for scabies but after meeting with a dermatologist last Friday we found out that it was not either of those but a heat rash.  The heat rash typically appears 3-4 days after she starts to wear the helmet.  The amount of time she wears it gradually increases day after day until she is ultimately wearing it for 22-23 hours a day but we’ve never gotten to this point because the rash appears 3-4 days after she starts wearing it.  So after trying two different helmets we’re starting back at square one and meeting with a new specialist and Gillett Children’s to see if they have another option and to be sure they too think she needs to wear it.  We will keep everyone posted. 

All in all we have a very happy little lady that makes us smile each and every day!
